Just about every wedding photo and video vendor will strongly urge you to schedule into your day Golden Hour Portraits. What is this???

Golden hour is the hour just prior to the sunset where a low sun creates a golden sun and the perfect conditions to get the most beautiful photos of the day. The low sun creates extremely soft light which basically means there’s no shadows that make the face look harsh. The color of the sky and clouds is appealing and the light just bounces off the scenery in a gorgeous blend no matter where you are.

This is the magic of golden hour.

Tips:

> Ask your photo and video vendors when golden hour is for your location and date. They’ll know the best time schedule a get away from the festivities to make some great memories.

> Summer weddings get the longest golden hour, while weddings in the heart of winter, will get the shortest golden hours. Golden ‘hour’ in winter might only be 20 minutes while it can be 90 minutes during some parts of summer.

> This is a great time for just romantics. Any family portraits are great for prior to the golden hour or another time. They don’t demand the same dynamicness that romantic portrait sessions do.
